Sport development opportunities for youngsters

I must say that government is fulfilling its commitment to sport development in Guyana with the building of a sports complex located at Woolford Avenue, which will be ready in a few months. The facility will be available to the public free of charge but will consist of several sections including: badminton area and squash and lawn tennis courts.
In addition, there will be training areas,
parking area, sports library and coaches in the various sections to provide free training to persons who are interested.
The development of sports will create opportunities for youngsters, especially the unfortunate including those youths on the streets and school drop outs.
This project is a means of getting youths off the streets and encouraging them to elevate themselves through sport.
It will provide them with opportunities and options to evolve and become professional sportsmen and women both nationally and internationally.
Over the years, cricket, football and basket ball have grown to be popular sports in Guyana and our players have excelled at these.
The sport Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony must be commended for his remarkable contribution in youth and sport development.
