How some Guyanese plan to spend Easter

THE most important holiday on the Christian Calendar, Easter celebrates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead.
People have different ways of celebrating it every year between March 22 and April 25.
The Guyana Chronicle spoke to some of them in the streets about how they will be spending their Easter this year.

Here are their responses:
*Christopher Singh, who is a procurement officer in the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, has planned a packed weekend programme, He will be going to Lethem, for the Rupununi Rodeo that he anticipates would be “quite exciting.” He is also looking forward to the beauty pageant and hoping for the opportunity to visit Brazil and experience his first tip there. He encouraged other persons, who have never been there to visit Lethem.

* Marlon Daniels, employed at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, is a family who plans to take his children to the seawall kite flying. He extended greetings for a happy Easter to all Guyanese.

* S. Apppana wished everybody a good holiday. The taxi driver also plans to spend time kite flying with his family on the Georgetown Seawall or in National Park this Easter. “After all, that is the most important thing about Easter,” he declared.

* Natassja Douglas said she wants to fly a kite this Easter because she has not done so for a long time. The Bryden’s Ltd merchandiser said she is planning to do to the Georgetown seawall, too. “This will be the first time I am flying a kite there,” she said, excitedly.

* Christina Delaan will have to stay at home and study for her Caribbean
Examinations Council (CXC) test. But, if she had a choice, she would, definitely, have been out flying a kite, the teenager said. For Christina, the holiday brings back memories of her father who died two years ago. “It’s good to remember
Him,” she said. Christina also wished her mother, Michelle, her uncle, Williams and all her friends a happy Easter.

* Marcia James has no other plans but to stay at home and rest. However, she sent greetings to all other Guyanese, hoping they can enjoy Easter their respective ways.
* Deron Cornelius is glad for a holiday from school and looks forward to going to the seawall and fly a kite. The nine-year-old sent greetings to his parents, brothers and his teacher, for a Happy Easter.

* Lynette Lutchman, from Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, likes to go kite flying with her children and grandchildren on a beach. But she prefers to stay at home and relax this year. She, however, wishes her grandchildren in Sophia and all Guyanese a Happy Easter.

* Seon Erskine, an employee in the Sports Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, is grateful for the Easter holidays and plans to rest at home,    surrounded by his family.
