An Assistant Superintendent of Police is expected to be charged shortly following a three-vehicle accident at Thomas Road, Thomas Lands, Georgetown, on Saturday with two other motorists.
Police reported that at about 13:00 hours on Saturday last, the Police Officer was proceeding east on the northern side of the road and strayed over into the southern lane into the path of two oncoming vehicles. One of the motorists swerved to avoid a collision and crashed into a lamp pole while the other motorist collided with the policeman’s vehicle.
The two motorists received minor injuries and were treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and sent away.
Subsequently, a breathalyzer test was conducted on the Police Officer who was found to be above the prescribed limit in relation to alcohol consumption.
He is expected to be charged accordingly.
