THE Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), in collaboration with the Management of the Guyana National Stadium, will be running a long term high-performance programme for the elite senior cricketers from today to Friday, and continuing every week until the ICC Twenty20 World Cup at the National Stadium.
This programme is open to all current and former national players, with the aim to hone all areas of the player’s game, namely batting, bowling, fielding and mental toughness and will re-start at the same venue following the completion of the ICC T20 here in Guyana.
Everyone working or attending this programme will be demonstrating their personal commitment to cricket, with the GCB providing the balls that will be used throughout the duration of the programme.
The GCB’s high-performance analyst Robin Singh along with the manager of the National Stadium Mr. Tony Xavier who has generously provided the venue and the time of his staff and national coach Ravindranauth Seeram, have all committed their time towards the everyday participation in the ECP.
The players attending will be expected to provide their own transportation and refreshment in a demonstration of their own commitment to the game and those confirmed to attend so far are Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine , Sewnarine Chattergoon, Assad Fudadin, Veerasammy Permaul, Devendra Bishoo, Trevon Garraway, Lennox Cush, Said Drepaul, Rayon Griffith, Gajanand Singh, Ryan Ramdass, Leon Johnson and Vishal Singh.
Others are expected to join the program upon their return from overseas contracts.
Additional coaching assistance will be provided by Cricket Development Officer of the GCB Reon King, Demerara coach Orin Bailey and West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) convenor of selectors Clyde Butts.
