THE Guyana Police Force wishes to respond to an article published in the Kaieteur News yesterday Tuesday March 16, 2010, under the caption “Relatives of Bartica accident victim peeved”. In the article which dealt with an accident involving Travis Dover of First Street, Bartica, it is stated that his relatives are alarmed at the actions of the police as it relates to the release of the driver of the motor vehicle involved in the accident.
The Guyana Police Force wishes to clarify that following the accident on Friday March 12, 2010, at Third Avenue and Third Street, Bartica, the driver of the motor vehicle was arrested. He was subsequently released on cash bail on Sunday March 14, 2010, after initial reports received by the police indicated that the victim was in a stable condition.
He was however re-arrested on Monday March 15, 2010, following confirmed reports that Travis Dover’s condition had worsened, and is in custody assisting with the investigations.
