Deportee Killed in latest road accdent

A 35-year-old deportee from the United States, Linden Richards, was killed in an accident early yesterday on the Pouderoyen Public Road, West Coast Demerara. According to a police report, the resident of Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, was killed when he was riding a bicycle along the road and was struck down from the rear by a motor car.

The accident occurred at about 00:45 hours Sunday morning.

Richards was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH).

The driver of the ill-fated motorcar is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Residents, whose homes, Richards frequented told the Guyana Chronicle that, he was the village handyman and lived alone in a house he rented.

The claimed he was deported 11 years ago from the United States (US) where his family resides.

Richards was described as a peaceful, willing person who was well known in the area.
