Armed bandits rob Chinese Restaurant at Stewartville

– escape with $400,000 in cash
POLICE are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 23:55 hrs last night at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara during which the owner of a Chinese Restaurant and her husband were attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Police said its investigations so far has revealed that Min Yan Cao and her husband were in the process of closing the Restaurant when they were confronted by the three men who held them up and took away $400,000 cash and escaped.

The victims were kicked and cuffed about their bodies during the incident and were treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital and sent away.

The police, in a statement yesterday, said they are also investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 22:00 hrs Saturday night at Middleton Street, Campbellville, during which businessman Shivnarine Sundat was attacked and robbed by three men armed with a handgun and two knives.

Investigations revealed that Shivnarine Sundat was about to close his Variety Store when he was held up by the men.

They tied his hands and feet together after which they took away an undisclosed sum of cash, an amplifier and other undisclosed articles.
