MACKENZIE Police are investigating an attempt to destroy a businessman’s motor car, PKK 9546, by fire, at his Lot 2785 Central Amelia’s Ward, home, also in Linden.
Owner of the vehicle, Bernard Hodge, who operates Bernard’s Variety Store at the Minibus Park in the township, said he was awakened by the sound of his car alarm around 04:00 h and, upon investigating, saw the bonnet open and flames gushing out.
The left front trafficator and hazard lights were damaged but Hodge was able to put out the blaze and avoid further destruction.
A bottle containing what appeared to be gasolene was found not far from the scene. (Joe Chapman)
