For Mashramani Float Parade…
THE Ministry of Housing and Water is collaborating with Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) and Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) to have a 60
member contingent on the 2010 Mashramani Float Parade.
The costumes for the occasion were specially designed by local designer Derek Moore, who created them, for all shapes and sizes of people, from cotton, spandex, carboard, sequins, foil and other materials.
The male costume features a red cotton vest, blue spandex shorts, green and gold ribbon embellishments and decorated umbrella headpieces with models of houses.
The female will wear red cotton blouse, blue spandex tights, green and gold ribbon embellishments and also have decorated umbrella headpieces with models of houses.
Moore said that the houses on the headpieces represent the Ministry’s, housing initiative in the interior and both sexes will have belts which show the GWI logo and earpieces depicting keys, both made of cardboard.
The designer worked with Ashmin’s Trading to produce the attire for persons who would like to participate in the parade but do not wish to wear skimpy clothing and said he achieved his goal, using materials and t-shirts available at the business place, to result in a colourful, carnival-like effect.
