The much awaited Christmas party for children from Bel Air, Prashad Nagar and Sophia was held yesterday, at the home of the late Mrs. Janet Jagan, and saw close to 400 children revelling in Christmas cheer.

The annual event, the brainchild of Mrs. Jagan, has been ongoing for almost a decade and was organised by the Bel Air/ Prashad Nagar PPP Group.

Upon arrival, the children were feted with several treats, the highlight being the arrival of Santa Claus and the presents he had in tow.

Chairman of the organising group, Mr. Colin Croal, said the voluntary efforts of the group’s members and the support of the business community assisted in the activity’s successful staging.
“It is something the children, aged up to 12, look forward to…all last week we had children asking when the party would be held,” he said.
