who burns coals, had left home the night before to check on the coal
pit. He then left friends after 3.00h for home, and it was around 5.30h that a
neighbour who was on her way to the creek nearby saw his body lying on the road.

A member of the family recalled that a couple years ago an uncle had died by
accident not too far from the spot where Earl Abrams was killed.
The time of the accident indicates that the driver was in breach of the regulations for use of the Linden Highway by trucks and lorries and other heavy duty equipment.
Police prohibit logging trucks and other such vehicles from traversing the Linden Highway during hours of darkness. Such vehicles are allowed to use the highway only between 6.00h and 18.00h.
