Manipulation of overseas calls unfair to GT&T

I HAVE noticed Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T) lamenting its severe losses due to cell and overseas calls being manipulated and abused.

In recent months, it lost over US$2M.  As a businessman and anyone with the ability to think would know that is serious cash flow dilemma.

As a loyal customer to Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company, I feel the pain of the loss. Imagine what it does to the shareholders and management.

This is fraud and should be handled through law enforcement and even private (civil) action.

I have noticed that in recent months, when I get overseas calls from relatives who have contracts with apparently large companies in the USA, offering special deals, three or four in one package, and the reception is always poor at the Guyana-end with words being short, mangled and distorted.

Sometimes they call three times to get connected. When I call them from Guyana the calls are fantastic, lucid and clear. Even they say so.

A strange observation is that even though it may be a big provider in the USA, the number that shows in Guyana is usually a local cell number, e.g. 660 or 600.

Dishonesty is dishonesty. Crime is crime. Fair is fair. I hope something is done in this matter, and I thank Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company for always trying to improve its service and good customer relations.
