GPF takes 187 schoolchildren to its annual camp

THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) yesterday took 187 schoolchildren to its 170th anniversary Annual Youth Camp at Madewini, East Bank Demerara.

The campers departed the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary, Georgetown, shortly after 09:30 h for the six-day event.

Most are between the ages of eight to 15 year but three six-year-olds and seven 7-year-olds are in the group.

At the Madewini, they all will be involved in making craft and cushions, knitting, playing games and poetry recitation, among other activities, under the supervision of 10 Police wives, five teachers and 39 Police men and women, while being fed by six cooks.

The children were drawn from several areas countrywide and include children of GPF members.

Several of them, excited and smiling, told the Guyana Chronicle they are prepared for the experience.
