Twenty seven goals recorded on opening night

Twenty goals were recorded on the opening night of the Guinness/Georgetown Football Association/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports/National Sports Commission’s Inter-Club/Block Futsal Tournament which got underway on Saturday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The highest margin of victory that was recorded by any one team was the 6-1 win by Sunburst Camptown over Houston Stars.
Of the six goals, S. Cadogan registered two while A. Benfield, K. Alleyne, Telson McKinnon and Ron Sandiford scored one each for the winners. J. Gilbert scored Houston Stars’ lone goal.
There was also a 4-0 win for Flamingo over Buxton Back with all four winning goals coming off the boot of Leon Yaw.
In other results, former national player Omali Nassy netted a treble in Uprising’s 3-1 win against GFC. G. Denny scored GFC’s lone goal.
GDF also scored a 3-1 win against Soesdyke with the winning goals coming off the boots of W. Gilkes, S. Brewley and Stellon David while Soesdyke’s lone goal was scored by D. Johnson.
BV Sideline edged Riddim Squad 2-1 through a goal each from R. Hopkinson and R. Gordon while A. Ramsay responded with a single strike for Riddim squad.
Black Pearl beat North Grove 2-0 through goals from J. Clarke and K. Jackson.
In the opening encounter of the evening, Beacons edged Plaisance 2-1. S. Morris and T. Lambert netted for the winners while T. Elijah scored for Plaisance.
The competition will continue this evening with GDF taking on Independence Boulevard from 19:00hrs, GFC coming up against Ann’s Grove Punters, Alpha United opposing Flamingo, BK International Western Tigers facing Black Pearl, Santos opposing Beacons, Sunburst Camptown coming up against Victoria Champions and Fruta Conquerors opposing BV Sideline Dam.
