HEALING Hands International Ministries Inc. has added three more schools to its Pomeroon Feeding Programme. Local Coordinator of the United States headquartered church, Mr. Yoorindranauth also known as Sam told the Guyana Chronicle the charitable project was initiated last October at Akawini, Abrams Creek and Dredge Creek primary schools in lower Pomeroon. But pupils of Siriki, Jacklow and Yarashima primaries are now also getting hot meals at their schools. He said the beneficiary children are fed every day at a cost of US$1,500 (G$300,000) monthly. According to him, Healing Hands also supplies gasolene for transporting foodstuff from Charity, on Essequibo Coast, to the respective communities. Missionary church worker, Mr. Timothy Rex Williams said the aim is to make the meals available to 2,000 schoolchildren by year end.
He said the delivery was, however, discontinued at Dredge Creek, because parents are not cooperating and helping to prepare the food, although rice, blackeye peas, cooking oil, salt, onions and other inputs are provided by the benefactor.
