MORE than 100 heavy-duty equipment operators will graduate this year from the National Training Project for Youth Empowerment (NTPYE) which is being executed by the Linden Technical Institute in Region 10. The Government Information Agency says graduation will begin in August when the first 40 trainees are scheduled to complete their training. The Heavy Duty Equipment Training programme was launched in January and targeted 60 persons to be trained for this year. The programme has been well subscribed and two additional batches of 20 each have already been induced. Minister of Labour Manzoor Nadir visited the trainees in the heavy-duty equipment operator training programme last Friday and was able to have a first hand assessment of the progress of the programme and also to see the youths undergoing training. In an address to the trainees, Minister Nadir reminded them that they are pioneers as Guyana has never before had such a programme. He urged them to be good examples for those who will follow and said that the programme is in top gear.
