Bodies of two fishermen found off Pomeroon

Two still missing
TWO of the four fishermen reported missing by family members last Thursday were yesterday found in the Atlantic in the vicinity of the Pomeroon River by police in that area.

Reports reaching this newspaper said that the bodies of 22-year-old Basdeo Ramphal, and his 26-year-old cousin, Ramlall Ramphal, were discovered near the mouth of the Pomeroon River in a partly decomposed state around 15:00hrs.

The bodies were positively identified by family members yesterday, reports said.

Nothing else was found with the bodies and no sign was seen of the other man, Michael Ramlochan, 38, and 14-year-old Peter Torres, a schoolboy who was supposed to be at school and did not inform his household that he was going fishing.

Police in Charity said that the search will continue and will be widened to encompass surrounding areas.

The quartet was reported missing since leaving on a fishing trip last Independence Day, May 26.

It was the eighth day of their disappearance when only the ice box from their boat, ‘Sir Kegan’, was found in North West District on Monday.
