FIFTEEN married women between the ages of 20-35 from Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara recently completed a six-week skills training programme in floral arrangement. The participants were presented with certificates last Thursday at an impressive graduation ceremony. Addressing the graduates, Region 3 (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) Chairman Mr. Julius Faeber said that he was highly impressed with the beautiful floral arrangements on display. He commended the graduates and urged them to continue in their quest of empowering themselves. Facilitator Lynette McKoy said that participants had shown a keen interest in the programme and that classes were held every Thursday between 15:00 and 17:00. Speaking on behalf of the participants Dhanrajie Hemraj said that all the ladies were excited from the inception and none were absent. She added “Even our husbands were excited … they sometimes reminded us of the day and time we had to attend classes…indeed we are happy for we know we can rise to the challenges ahead of us”. The course was executed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport in collaboration with Region 3 administration. Region 3 release)
