YESTERDAY morning the first-ever Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Mahdia Independence Under-15 football competition was won by Campbelltown, who defeated Central Mahdia 7-6 in a match decided by sudden-death penalty kicks.
The match was played at the Sprint Star Playfield and witnessed by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, and Region Eight Regional Executive Officer Ishwar Dass.
Ramel Hendricks, Campbelltown’s goalkeeper, was adjudged the Most Valuable Player. The tournament was organised by Errol `Beeks’ Mootoo and was part the region’s Independence activity.
