PREVIOUS manslaughter convict Rondel Harris was arraigned, again, at the Berbice Assizes, where he got more jail time for robbery under arms.
He was sentenced to an additional 12 years, by Justice Diana Insanally, after he pleaded guilty to three counts of armed robbery.
Last January 14, Harris had received a nine years prison sentence for the unlawful killing of school teacher Saisnarine Ramnauth, who was shot dead after he and others robbed Sain Supermarket at Williamsburg, Corentyne, on June 7, 2003.
The prisoner was originally indicted for murder but the State accepted his plea to the less serious offence.
On Wednesday, Harris confessed that, whilst being armed with a gun, he robbed Bibi Zafeena Ally of $400,000 and a gold band valued $20,000; Indrajeet Mohanlall of a gold band worth $12,000 and Priya Mohanlall of $32,000, a gold chain and two wrist watches.
State Counsel Ganesh Hira told the court, on June 7, 2003, the prisoner and two other convicts, Alfred Lewis and Brentnol Bascom, were involved in a joint enterprise to rob Sain Supermarket, where Ally and the Mohanlalls were also victims.
The Prosecutor said all three convicts were equally liable for the acts of each other and Harris was identified by Ally on a line-up at Whim Police Station, on the Corentyne, too.
Pronouncing the three four-year sentences for each count, Justice Insanally ordered that they run concurrently with the nine-year one previously imposed by Justice Brassington Reynolds, at the Berbice Assizes, as well.
On April 29, Lewis also admitted to having unlawfully killed Ramnauth and jailed for 19 years by Justice Insanally on that conviction and three years for every one of the robberies, all the jail terms being concurrent.
