READING this article in Guyana Chronicle dated Mondi May 18, 2009 captioned “Those traffic lights beggars” comes a warning.
I urge government officials and security forces to not allow this to happen in Guyana.
As stated in the report where one woman would get abusive if given $20.00 and where one man started washing vehicle windscreens.
This must never be allowed to get out of hand and out of control.
I have seen this first hand what had happened in Toronto Ontario Canada until government stepped in to stop it dead in its tracks.
Had the Toronto Police not stepped in and took control of the very situation now rising in Guyana some people were bound to get hurt or killed.
As your vehicle stopped young men would come and wash your windscreen even though you never asked for a wash.
They would then demand money for it until it got out of control with many fights.
The Canadian government had to step in and allow the police to put its foot down immediately.
Please do not allow this to grow and become yet another plague like squatting, vending, noise nuisance and mini bus culture.
I urge government to put a full stop to this immediately.
