MY belief is that when early planning is executed for any event, it makes life much easier.
In saying so, the organising committee of GUYEXPO 2009 should get the ball rolling by firstly opening up the “Theme Competition” as they usually do in recent years to the public. It should reflect around the colour “GREEN” because of its global significance in 2009.
Importantly, take up the challenge and have our immediate neighbours participate on a large scale. That is, collaborate with the respective consulates and the opening up of the Takutu Bridge will definitely make situations less difficult from now onwards.
From my overseas trips in the past, I believe that there is indeed quite a lot of business that Guyana can tap into and having their presence, will also allow us to have some first hand look of what they have to offer.
Mexico will soon be having a consulate office opened in Guyana and an invitation should definitely be extended for participation.
Because of the negative coverage surrounding CLICO, I don’t foresee their participation and should that prime spot be up for grabs where they usually use to display vehicles, it will be fair game to have potential business names placed in a bag and the first one pulled be given the opportunity.
Don’t sell it to the highest bidder because it might cause confusion.
The Amerindian Ministry should also get kick-started and liaise with its regional counterparts for a bigger participation this round and begin the concept design for the Amerindian Village.
