THE Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana representing the Muslim community of Guyana, join with all other Guyanese and members of the international communities to pay homage to the late President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Janet Jagan.

In doing this, we acknowledge the great sacrifices the late President has made towards the development of this dear land of ours. We admire her gentleness and patience she exercised even when deeply provoked and vilified. Her demise is indeed a tremendous loss to Guyana and its people.

Her vigorous struggle for freedom is well documented and her fight for the working class has gone down in the history of Guyana. Mrs. Jagan having come to Guyana in her early twenties preferred to stay with the Guyanese people who were subdued by Colonialism and never spared a moment to dedicate her life for a just cause. She has touched the hearts of Guyanese of all walks of life.

The CIOG wishes to express deepest sympathy to you at this sad time. She will truly be remembered by all Guyanese as a woman who has given much more than any other to Guyana.
