Man missing after boat sinking found alive

A MAN, reported missing after a boat in which he was travelling from Venezuela sank in rough waters of the Atlantic Ocean off the sea coast at Anna Regina Sunday night, has been found alive.

Thirty-one-year-old Mahindra Persaud, an Essequbian, who was residing in Venezuela for a number of years, was returning to visit his sister at Airy Hall when disaster struck the vessel in which he was a passenger.

Several search parties had ventured out between Lima and Suddie, also on Essequibo Coast, but Persaud washed ashore late yesterday afternoon.

The four crew members of the craft, who had made it to shore safely after the sinking, were taken into Police custody and assisted with investigations up to the time of Persaud’s discovery.
