AN East Bank Demerara taxi driver narrowly escaped with his life after he was held up and robbed of his motorcar and cash by two bandits on Saturday night.

Police said at about 22:10h that night at Bel Air, Georgetown, taxi-driver Orin Brooks of Prospect, East Bank Demerara, was attacked and robbed by two men armed with knives.

The unsuspecting Brooks was hired by the two men at Bel Air and upon entering the vehicle they held him up, robbed him of $9,000 in cash, put him out of his white Toyota Carina, and drove away.
