When Alpha United played their semi-final game against Camptown, they did not play to their true potential, but team coach Wayne `Wiggy’ Dover would have had one week to work on the team’s weaknesses.
Dover did admit to Chronicle Sport that the team performed below their true potential and he would be working with them to sort out where they were weak and try to improve those areas.
Alpha, former Kashif and Shanghai champions will tonight be looking to get past the fast rising Slingerz who are looking to secure their second championship honours.
Speaking to Chronicle Sport yesterday, Dover said once his charges play to the game plan he does not see why they cannot come out on top.
The Guyana Jaguars coach said the team (Alpha United) had one week to work on their mistakes which occurred when they last opposed Camptown and if they work as a unit tonight, they could overcome Slingerz, the tournament favourites.
Dover stated that his plan is to take the game to Slingerz offensively and let them make the mistakes which Alpha United should capitalise on, thereby coming out victorious.
Efforts to reach Slingerz’s coach Charles `Lilly’ Pollard for a comment proved futile.
Tonight’s men’s final will be preceded by the women’s final between Bartica who brushed aside West Demerara 4-0 and Georgetown who drubbed Berbice 9-0 in the two semi-final encounters.
For tonight’s men’s final, Alpha united will be spearheaded b y captain Dwight Peters, with support from Anthony `Awo’ Abrams, Quincy Madramootoo, Kelvin McKenzie, Anthony Benfield, Manaseh Primo and Richie Richards, among others.

Meanwhile, BK Western Tigers clawed Camptown 2-0 to clinch the third place spot in the tournament, thereby carting off the $500,000 prize money.
Solomon Austin and Leroy Pedro were the goal scorers.
In the women’s third place play-off, West Demerara defeated Berbice by a 4-2 margin in a penalty shoot-out after the two teams were deadlocked 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time.
