A TRANSPORT Canada team has completed a comprehensive assessment of aviation security operations at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), reaffirming Guyana’s adherence to international standards.
The evaluation, conducted in a manner similar to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reviews, follows Guyana’s successful outcome in a recent International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Universal Security Audit Programme (USAP) audit.
During the assessment, auditors examined all critical aspects of aviation security, including screening procedures, infrastructure, operational practices, and regulatory oversight. Their review found no issues of significant concern, signalling that Guyana’s aviation sector continues to maintain a robust and effective security framework.
CJIA’s Security Director, Mr. Manmohan Balram, welcomed the positive outcome, describing it as a reflection of the airport’s commitment to passenger safety.
“The findings of the Transport Canada team reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest security standards. This positive outcome is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our security personnel and aligns with our goal of ensuring the safety of all passengers and air travel operations,” Balram said.
This latest endorsement from an international security authority further strengthens Guyana’s position as a safe and reliable aviation hub in the region.
