Three women shoplifters caught on camera : -robbing Industry grocery store

Shop owners, Marissa and Yashpaul Seenarine of Lot 97 Fifth Street, Industry, East Coast Demerara, said that three women shoplifters who were caught on camera carted off approximately $60,000 in groceries from their grocery store by placing the items under their shirts and in handbags on Saturday around midday. Manning the Market Place Grocery Store was an 11-year-old child of the owners, along with two employees, all of whom failed to notice when the women were taking the items off the shelves. They subsequently left the store after purchasing just a packet of ketchup.
Yashpaul Seenarine told the Guyana Chronicle that when he returned home he noticed that the shelves seemed emptier than usual and enquired from his son, staff and wife about the missing items.
However they could not account for the missing items and Yashpaul Seenarine immediately reviewed the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) that was installed on the premises for security purposes and saw what had happened.
He explained that the three women lingered in the store for sometime and then they began selecting the items off the shelves and placing the tins of powered milk and marmite under their long shirts and the bags they had in their possession.
He said that they then bought a pack of ketchup and quickly exited the building and entered a silver coloured 212 Toyota Carina motorcar and made good their escape.
The trio made off with five tins of Milex powered milk, three smaller tins of powered milk and 24 bottles of marmite.
This is the third such incident at the business place and after the first case of shoplifting they had installed the security cameras.
The police were called in to view the images caught on camera and it was noted that it was the work of three middle-aged women.
It all happened within the space of three minutes and it is believed to be the work of professionals, who are in the habit of shoplifting from supermarkets, shops and stores.
Persons with information about the whereabouts of these shoplifters are asked to contact the grocery store owners on telephone number 619-2388, or the nearest police station.
