Bourda Market businessman blames EZjet for loss

OWNER of Price Rite Collections in Bourda Market, Georgetown, Mr. Dindyal Persaud has expressed disgust over the loss of some of his goods that he blamed on the carelessness of EZjet Airlines.

He told the Guyana Chronicle, on Tuesday that he and his family travelled first class with the airline last month and, when they arrived at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri, it was discovered that only seven of their eight suitcases were there.alt
Persaud said one suitcase was left at John F. Kennedy International Airport and was brought back by Caribbean Airlines that same afternoon.
He said, when it came, it was searched by EZjet and CJIA officials in his absence and lacked things it should have contained, including computer parts and accessories, as well as memory cards and other items to the value of US$1,500.
The businessman explained that the only items that were returned to him were some memory cards and computer speakers.
According to him, instead of being reimbursed for his loss, he was given two return travel vouchers, which were valid for a period of one year and signed by EZjet’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Rosalinda Rasool, for travel to the United States (U.S.).
Persaud said, two weeks ago, he used one of the vouchers but when he returned to the airline last week to utilise the other one, he was told that the system was down. He said he went back on several other occasions and was similarly advised.
He said, he subsequently learnt, through the media, that the airline’s operations were suspended.
Dindyal revealed that, for this year, he has purchased 16 tickets from the airline and he needs to travel for business purposes on November 26 but is frustrated that he has not been refunded for what he has lost.
The man said that he wants back either his money, the items he lost from the airline or tickets to travel later this month.
