TALENT Search Guyana, one of the latest initiatives by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, promises to thrill viewers with the exciting and sensational performances of participants from all across Guyana, and with judges who are both fun and qualified in the field of entertainment.
Information gathered by Buzz is that over 500 persons have sent in videos via WhatsApp for consideration by the judges.
The judges for the competition with five rounds are Poonam Singh, Joel Ghansham, Timeka Marshall, and Akelo ‘DJ Akelo’ Elliott. The first show will be aired live at 19:00 hours this Sunday and will continue every Sunday until the grand finale on May 26, 2021.

The shows are pre-recorded at this stage but the semi-finals and finals will be done live. It will be shown on Hits and Jams Television (HJTV), National Communications Network (NCN), Multi-Technology Vision (MTV), National Television Network (NTN), E-Networks and the Ministry’s Facebook page.
Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, a video audition was done where the contestants had to send in one-minute videos via WhatsApp, and a live audition was subsequently held.

The winning prize is not yet known, however, the names of the top talents are said to be the first that will be hired by the Ministry for shows and other events. The judges will also be mentoring the talents who made it through the audition rounds.
“It’s my first time judging so it has been quite relaxing and refreshing to not be the one who’s auditioning! As you would know, my whole career started through a singing competition,” expressed Poonam Singh.

She offered that viewers can tune in to see a fun-filled show featuring contestants of all ages with diverse talents.
“What has been super exciting for me is seeing new talent in different categories; whether it is singing, dancing, spoken words, drumming, even down to painting. I was so happy to see people not losing hope or giving up on their dreams and goals despite the pandemic. They still came out and showcased their talent with pride,” Poonam further noted.
Both Poonam and fellow judge Joel Ghansham spoke highly of the Ministry and its efforts to put on the show and provide an opportunity for those with talent.
“Regardless of what talent you think you possess, bring it on. We have some of the best crew….and a very tight-knit group; everyone gets along like family and fabulously and yet, we agree to disagree, which is good,” Ghansham said. He is happy to be involved in a process that is “picking the right people and giving them exposure.”
Ghansham also said that the show will be full of fun and jokes.
