32-yr-old Colombian rows into Port Georgetown

…after crossing the Atlantic on 84-day journey
YESTERDAY marked the end of an 84 day journey across the Atlantic Ocean for 32-year-old Colombian Nicolas Carvajal Vribe.
At approximately 17:00hrs yesterday his mother, Pilar Vribe, his father Juan Carlos Carvajal and his fiancé departed the Coast Guard base at Ruimveldt with the Coast Guard to escort the 79th person to row across the Atlantic Ocean into port Georgetown.
Nicolas Carvajal Vribe decided the go on the trip to raise funds for cancer study. The man has lost members of his family to cancer, including his youngest brother.

The journey saw Nicolas Carvajal Vribe making his way along several African countries. His journey was delayed by about four days due to rough waters he encountered along the way.
Nicolas said that at one point he ran out of food and he had to go hungry at times.
On the trip he ate pre-cooked packaged meals.
His boat capsized twice during the voyage, but he was strapped to it and he managed to set it back, right side, up and continued rowing.
Upon his arrival at port Georgetown last evening, he was greeted by Commander Porter of the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard, and personnel from the Tourism Association
of Guyana and Immigration and GRA officers.
Getting into port Georgetown was nothing easy as the traffic and turning tides proved an added task for him.
