Linden Police arrest man for 2011 death

POLICE in Linden have detained a man in connection with the murder of taxi driver Texwayne Duncan, who died under suspicious circumstances in May last year. It is reported that Adrian Thompson was arrested on Thursday following information received by the Police and his father, Henry  Thompson, of Lot 122 Blueberry Hill, Wismar is furious about the arrest.
Last May, just after 20:00hrs one night, taxi driver, Texwayne Duncan was murdered and his charred body found in his car in a bushy area along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
At the time of the discovery, persons close by heard an explosion and, later, saw the vehicle, in which he was found, ablaze in South Amelia’s Ward.
Reports indicate that persons at the scene saw three others, two men and someone looking like a woman with a wig hurriedly leaving the place.
Henry Thompson contacted this newspaper, stating that his son was not in Linden at the time of the incident but in Mabura Hill. He said his son does decoration and his wife is a teacher.
Thompson said he suspects that the informer is an ex-policeman who runs a bar without the relevant licence and, as such, when the police go to his place, he would offer them drinks.
According to him, the ex-policeman and his son had their problems and, as such, information was sent to Georgetown and, when he went home from work Thursday night, he heard that his son was in the lock-ups for the killing of Duncan in Amelia’s Ward.
He said he lived with his family for quite some time in the area and never encountered problems with anyone as he is a peaceful citizen.
The elder Thompson remarked about the arrest: “Now ten or eleven months after Texwayne was murdered police pick up my son who does not know anything about that, because, at the time of that murder, my son was in Mabura, where he had gone to do a wedding. He does interior décor for halls and such like, so I really don’t know who came up with this ridiculous idea that Adrian kill that guy. That is really crazy.”
Thompson was taken to the Mackenzie Police Station but was later transferred to the Amelia’s Ward Police Outpost.
