Veteran photographer Ken Moore dies

THE media fraternity is mourning the death of veteran photographer Ken Moore who died yesterday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Male Medical Ward. The time of death is recorded as 4.45hrs. He was 72. The Guyana Press Association, in a release yesterday, described Moore as a man who saw himself as an artist who represented creative images. The release added that despite the absence of digital photography back then, Ken Moore was never tired of shooting rolls upon rolls to get stories from all angles of his lens and achieve the story-line he wanted.
Moore was one who pursued the news story and never really missed the moment in his quest to put on film images that remained in the minds of those who lay eyes on them. Meanwhile, in a telephone interview, Mrs. Allison Moore, his widow, described her husband as a man who will surely be missed by all who knew him. According to Mrs. Moore, while her husband was a lover of photography, he loved to prepare meals in the kitchen, and they were always tasty.
Ken Moore worked at the Stabroek News. Editor–In- Chief there, Anand Persaud, commenting on Moore’s death, explained that Moore has been with the paper almost from its inception, and his passing will surely be felt by the staff members. He noted that Moore was with the papers up to the time of his illness.
Before working at the Stabrok News, Moore was with the Guyana Chronicle, The Catholic Standard, and the Associated Press.
Ken Moore is survived by his wife of 12 years and several children. The veteran photographer is expected to be laid to rest on Friday.
