Youth Ministry gets vehicle from UNFPA to monitor adolescent youth-friendly spaces

THE Youth Ministry has received a Land Cruiser from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to ensure the proper monitoring of youth-friendly spaces around the country.
Assistant Direct of Youth, Davenand Ramdatt, received the keys to the vehicle from Assistant Representative, UNFPA, Patrice La Fleur, at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
La Fleur said the vehicle was provided for the monitoring of the adolescent youth-friendly spaces, an initiative that commenced years ago. Initially, only two communities were involved, but that number has now expanded to 10.
Youth-friendly spaces provide a variety of information to youths, and some youths have been assisting in managing the activities of the spaces, all of which are equipped with computer labs, peer educators, parents, and other coordinators to ensure the workshop is functioning effectively.
“We have spaces in Regions 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10, and have encountered some challenges on the monitoring and evaluation of the spaces; and so this vehicle, handed over today, is with the intention that the Ministry of Culture and Youth will be able to use the vehicle to improve and enhance the monitor of the spaces.
“This vehicle would also be beneficial as it relates to the improvement of water and sanitation to persons living in remote areas.”
