GNNL honours Nov, Dec Master Mind achievers

THE Guyana Chronicle Friday honoured the November and December batches of top-ten achievers who participated in its Online game, Master Mind Quiz Corner.
The winners received their prizes at a simple presentation ceremony at the newspapers’ Lama Avenue, Bel Air Park offices.
The honorees for November were Reshan Rahim of St. Gabriel Primary (1st); Sarah Garrido of Green Acres School Group (2nd); Shanae Harte of New Guyana School (3rd); Denisha Leitch of Port Mourant Primary School (4th); Vani Ramnarain of Montrose Primary School (5th); Akeem Bashar of C.W.C Primary School (6th); Onecia Bollers of St. Margaret’s Primary School (7th); Mukhtaar Alli of Grove Primary School (8th); Maya Persram of Marian Academy (9th); and Rahul Lildhar of Novar Primary School (10th).
The winners for December were Sarah Garrido (1st); Reshaun Rahim (2nd); Mukhtaar Alli (3rd); Denisha Leitch (4th); Rebekah Mohanram of Montrose Primary School (5th); Akeem Bashar (6th), Vani Ramnarain (7th); Shanae Harte (8th); Rahul Lildhar (9th); and Noah Rajak of Eccles Primary School (10th).
Present at the ceremony were Chronicle’s General Manager, Nandkumar Puran, Administration Manager, Colin Alfred, and Finance Controller, Moshamie Ramotar. Representative of the main sponsor, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, Ms Jasmaine Payne, was also present for the occasion.
It was the last presentation that saw GBTI representation as the bank has ended its sponsorship for now, and on this note, the General Manager expressed his hope that the bank will continue to partner with the company in other initiatives.
Payne urged those who have been winning since the game started to deposit their vouchers at the bank. She explained that the gift voucher is valid only for six months and if not deposited, the money could go down the drain.
To do so, she said the parent of the child would only need to show up at the bank with the child’s birth certificate and their Identification Card to deposit the cheque into an Early Saver’s Account.
The game was officially launched on May 12, 2011 at State House, with the intention of engaging students preparing for the National Grade Six Examinations and to also serve as a tutor, social network and interactive learning tool for children within that particular age-group.
It primarily seeks to challenge the minds of children below the age of 13 who are currently preparing to write the examination, thus boosting their confidence, fostering the spending of quality time among parents and children, encouraging more productivity on the computer, and promoting positive networking among students of diverse backgrounds.
The brainchild of Company Chairman, Mr. Keith Burrowes, the idea brings to the web an online educational game designed to stimulate thinking, challenges, encourages and offers general practice to Fifth and Sixth Graders.
