I am glad to see that Gerhard Ramsaroop is agile in the letters column of the print media these last few days, since I always appreciate a good debate. However, it is sad that Ramsaroop is personalising issues as the tone is his letters would indicate. I wonder if I had hit a soft spot?

I am still puzzled as to why Ramsaroop is so obsessed to find out who I am, as if it would solve some intricate problem for him. Anyway, it makes no sense debating with Ramsaroop anymore, since he still views remittances as a competing financial source, instead of a complementary financial source. Until he changes his one tracked mind, only then will he be able to accept the positives remittances have to offer to poor nations.

Like I had said in a previous letter, there are many people who have attained a degree or any other academic qualifications, but only few are able to properly apply themselves to logical thinking. Ramsaroop is free to continue writing his letters, since the press is free and everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I will continue to emphasize the need to view remittances as a complementary financial source and outline the positives remittances have to offer to poor countries like Guyana.

Since Ramsaroop is playing the nitpicking game only to gain recognition, then so be it; on the other hand, I will continue to debate issues and stick to the facts. I hope that one day by the grace of God, that Ramsaroop will be able to comprehend my take on this critical concept of remittances.
