THE Non Pariel fisherman, who was shot and injured by one of two men while fishing at Strathspey seawall, also on the East Coast of Demerara, last October 27, has reported another personal misfortune. Parmanand Bacchus said his bottom flat apartment was broken into and documents and clothing, among other things, were stolen since November 12, but police only went there on Monday.
He said they surveyed the scene and secured the door with another lock while being subjected to verbal abuse by the woman who resides on the top flat.
Bacchus said almost all his groceries, clothing and documentation, in the form of receipts for his furniture and appliances were taken by the woman who broke into his premises.
The 45-year-old man said, for fear of his life, he is staying with relatives but had locked his place of residence and is very distressed that he is still being targeted.
He has visited Vigilance Police Station, on the East Coast of Demerara, where he filed a report and was told to return with the relevant papers to prove ownership of the property, for ownership of which he is being challenged.
In relation to the shooting, Bacchus said he was told, by the police, that the case is with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
He alleged that the woman molesting him, his ex-wife even turned up where he is staying and demanded their 10-year-old son although she has summoned him for support for the child whom he has been financially supporting, by providing his meals and taking care of his other material needs.
Bacchus lamented that the woman continues to threaten his life, in the presence of the police, as well, making life for him very miserable, also with the court battle for the property.
He was expected to attend court the day after his shooting but was hospitalised and, though no longer in hospital, is unable to work because the gunshot wound to his head is causing him to experience tremendous pain, headaches and a burning sensation, making it impossible for him to stand for long periods.
Police had reported that on October 27, about 10:10 hrs, Bacchus was at the Strathspey Seawall when he was confronted by two men, one of whom shot him to his head after which they escaped.
Bacchus and the woman, who was arrested and kept in custody assisting with the investigations before being released, are locked in a bitter property dispute.
She resides in the upper flat of the two-storey house while Bacchus lives at the bottom and they are supposed to be in court on November 28, for a hearing in the property matter, police said.
