THE OBSERVER

Jagan, Jagdeo, Ramotar are ambassadors of peace in the nation
– Opposition collective dividing the people along racial lines in power bid
– But opposition cabal are being accused of themselves having dirty hands, even while they accuse government functionaries of corruption
ONE only had to be in court to listen to Khemraj Ramjattan, Nigel Hughes, and Christopher Ram lambast the Government in general – and President Jagdeo in particular- for giving top jobs to Indian professionals and sidelining African communities in its developmental programmes.
The entire opposition collective is also accusing the government of the security problems in the nation.  However, a look at the motley crew that make up the primary characters in Guyana’s opposition cabal would provide some insight as to their real agenda and the reasons  they are a recipe for disaster for the Guyanese nation.
Khemraj Ramjattan and Moses Nagamootoo emerged out of the belly of a party in which they wanted primary leadership positions.  They were denied as unbefitting and became demented as a result.
Raphael Trotman was party to the PNC’s destructive strategies of ‘slo’ fiah mo’ fiah’.   He was integral to the espousing of criminals by that party, to the extent where murder, thief and rapist, Lindon ‘Blackie’ London was treated as a hero by that party, which draped the latter’s body with Guyana’s Golden Arrowhead and conducted his funeral rites at the monument site of Kofi, a true hero in the nation.
Gerhardt Ramsaroop’s father was a staunch supporter of the PPP who owned acres of real estate in Kuru-Kuru, which Gerhardt has inherited.  However, in spite of the fact that they cannot fully utilise the land that they already possess, their greed for more land took them into a legal tussle whereby they wanted to throw a poor woman out of her home so that they could acquire her land; and they expected that the PPP would have used its power to facilitate their acquisition of the poor woman’s land.
The party leadership rejected the Ramsaroops’ request and, in the process earned their bitter enmity.  In spite of  this, when the elder Ramsaroop sold his home, the government gave him a plot of land at the Eccles Industrial Site, from which to conduct his business, where he also lived.  Yet their hatred prevailed, because even this was not enough.
Aspiring AFC Finance Minister, Sasenarine Singh, was booted out of several positions because of alleged issues of dishonesty and dysfunctionality; yet he wanted President Jagdeo to give him the position of Minister of Finance.  The President refused, thus the embittered but still ambitious Singh thinks he stands a better chance with the AFC.  However, he has a competitor in a small-time economic operator named Tarron Khemraj; so he would become a doddering old man and his dreams of grandeur still would not be realised.  Plus someone should ask his former wife why she left him.
Christopher Ram, who submitted his name as a contender to be president in an interim arrangement if the PPP was ousted out of power, preaches accountability, yet his alleged fraudulent conduct with regard to the sale of the Hotel Tower exposes the real face of the man, as does the accusations levelled by his wife against him.
Nigel Hughes, who defends mainly drug dealers and murderers – brilliantly, went into Buxton to tell the people there that the Government discriminates against black people in favour of Indian people; even while the party is saying that it is a unity party that will empower all the races.
At the same time, Nagamootoo and Ramjattan go into the sugar belt and tell the Indian communities that the PPP/C does not look after their interests and that they will deliver miraculous solutions to all their prayers and their problems.
Both Ramjattan and Trotman’s law firms have been taken before the Bar Association on accusations of fraudulent conduct by one Prakash Persaud, the brother of Justice Prem Persaud; yet both are claiming to be incorrupt individuals who can better fill the roles of president and prime minister than Bharrat Jagdeo, Donald Ramotar and Sam Hinds.
What qualifies any of them to become leaders of this nation?  It seems that any “lagoo-bagoo” can become leader in this country, merely by proclaiming themselves as  presidential candidates, then claim equal status to the elected leaders of the nation.
The role that Granger played in rigged elections, killing of the ballot box martyrs and other atrocities in this nation during PNC rule is now history, as is the role of the PNC and its leadership in the absolute destruction of the country.
However, the dream of Cheddi Jagan has always been to unite the nation so that everyone achieves progress and peace in their individual and communal lives.  The party and leadership that he left behind have worked untiringly to pursue this goal and indications are that they have succeeded immeasurably, because Guyanese – en masse, are saying “enough is enough”.
They are putting their own welfare and that of their children first, instead of putting themselves and their loved ones on the line for power-hungry despotic murderers and child-killers.
The litany of lies being peddled by the opposition collective – that the PPP/C government and President Jagdeo only empower Indians is a lie; because neither employs anyone.  Public Service employees are selected by due process by various bodies, in which the President has no say.
However, conversely, as Keith Burrowes has written, if Guyanese of African descent  deign to accept positions, merely as technocrats, whereby they can serve their country and their fellowman, they are deemed by the opposition as sell-outs and house-slaves; and are hounded to such an extent that, out of sheer self-preservation, they often refuse or resign from such positions.
Gomattie Singh’s accusations that she is receiving death threats (presumably by the AFC) is entirely believable, especially in light of the initial attack that left her disfigured after she had disclosed their dishonest practices, and some Machiavellian actions that came to light when AFC members in the diaspora deliberately planned, with meticulous attention to a detailed strategy, to disrupt a PPP meeting in New York where President Jagdeo and PPP/C Presidential Candidate Donald Ramotar were scheduled to speak.
Guyanese expect and dread violence pre and post-elections, which both the AFC and PNC/WPA turned APNU are capable of, as has been proven.
Rupert Roopnarine has admitted that the WPA had been amassing guns prior to elections in 1992 and the PNC promotion of violent activities on one pretext or another now hallmarks that party’s strategies to wrest administrative power in the country through the backdoor.
Their weak attempts to blame the ruling party for  crime in the land is laughable, because even the smallest child in the land knew who had made Buxtonians cower in their own homes as criminals took over their community; and who had taken arms and ammunition from the army, which are until today untraceable, except when they turn up in the hands of criminals that have been killed or arrested by the police.
What did the PNC do with all those rifles?  No wonder there is a ramped-up crime wave, with the AFC and the PNC both promising greater security in the land when (sic!) they are elected to the presidency.
After all, only those who own the dog can call off the dog.
But the PPP/C leaders are using Dr. Jagan’s strategy.  They are taming the dog – with love and care; and soon there will be no more enmity between the peoples in the land, which is infuriating the hate-mongers and their international partners in crime.
Guyana is back on track.  Ours
is a nation on the move – and the strength of the people will prevail under the administrative construct of the PPP/C, which always preaches “Love and unity, peace and harmony” to advance the principles enshrined in our national motto of one people, one nation, with one destiny.
The beautiful thing is that it is the young people of the land who are leading the way – and their leaders who are learning from their wise choices: Witness Joe Hamilton and his children.  It was the youngsters who decided that their future lies with a political party that advances progressive precepts, and their father was wise enough to recognise and respect their choice as befitting a responsible parent.
The PPP/C has always embraced the youths of the country and placed faith in their potential for leadership; and the young people of the land are recognising that they cannot blindly follow anyone’s choices, because they can analyse situations and make informed choices for themselves.
Thus, the racist and divisive rhetoric does not impact their consciousness, because their experience and their future projections for their own and national development are guiding them to choose to support the PPP/C – a political construct that allows them to associate with anyone of their own choice. Therefore, the discriminatory baggage of their parents are not allowed to weigh them down.
Guyanese are saying no to race-hate and violence in the nation, and the youths are leading the way.
