KARATEKAS of all ages will converge on the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on March 4 to commemorate 50 years of martial arts greatness with a tournament.
The one-day event, dubbed the Woon-A-Tai Cup is in celebration of the Head of the International Karate Diagaku (IKD) and Guyana Karate College (GKC) Sensei Frank Woon-A-Tai.
According to a release, those masters in attendance will be the Grandmaster himself, a 9th Dan, along with deputy Grandmaster Maureen Woon-A-Tai, an 8th Dan rank.
Master Bernice Hughes, along with Master Amir Khouri and Master Jeffrey Wong, is also set for exhibitions on the day.
All Shotokan forms are welcome including Kata, Kumite, Bunkai and Enbu.
The tournament will take place under IKD/JKA/ISKF where there are one-point matches or a finishing blow delivered with speed, power, spirit and ki, without contact.
