Nero died from gun shot wounds-post mortem reveals

‘Blondie’ Palm Court murder trial
THE Judge and jury in the ‘Blondie’ Palm Court murder trial yesterday heard that 58-year old Kenrick Nero who was found dead following an explosion at Palm Court on September 16, 2007, died from gun shot wounds the post mortem revealed.

They were told that after the explosion Nero fell and was picked up in a pool of blood with two visible wounds, one in the chest area and one at the back of the head.

The witness Detective Constable, S. Elias who told this story also said
that the accused Ashanti Schultz had handed him a black dress with
gold designs that she was wearing at Palm Court earlier that day.
State Prosecutor Ganesh Hera is prosecuting for the State while Mr.
Nigel Hughes in association with Mr. Mark Waldron is appearing for
the defence.

The witness Elias was still testifying when the case was adjourned to next Monday.
The adjournment was granted by Judge William Ramlal on an
application from Mr. Nigel Hughes to permit him to attend a meeting
of the Caribbean Court of Justice, beginning in Trinidad and Tobago
today.

Elias, in his evidence had testified that during the month of September
2007, he was stationed at the Brickdam Police Station and was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (C.I. D).
On receiving report of an allegation that a shooting incident had taken
place at Palm Court, he and a mobile unit under Inspector Trotz and a
party of policemen went to the scene.

On arrival at the scene he found three .32 shells. He took possession
of the shells and questioned several persons on the scene but no useful
information was obtained.
Later the witness saw the body of a Negro man lying on the ground who
was later identified as Kenrick Nero. Witness said that he was given
certain instructions which resulted in he and the party going to Eccles,
East Bank, Demerara to the home of Ashanti Schultz called ‘Blondie’
He searched ‘Blondie’s home but found nothing of interest. Witness
arrested the accused and was later handed a gun by someone.
Witness said that he later attended a post mortem at which Nero was
identified to the Pathologist Dr. Bridjmohan.

The doctor, the witness said, found two wounds on the body, one on the
chest and another at the back of the head. The doctor said death was
due to shock and haemorrhage caused by gun shot wounds.
