Police in noon search at former Blue Iguana

UNIFORMED officers in five Police vehicles raided the former Blue Iguana nightclub, at Fifth and Light Streets, Alberttown, Georgetown, around noon yesterday. Proprietor of the business, Mr. Royston Peniston, said the cops were searching for guns and drugs but he told the Guyana Chronicle the 20 minutes search yielded none.
He said there were patrons on the premises and expressed his dissatisfaction at the Police action.
“I am a businessman and I have no problem with the search but it affects my business,” Peniston admitted.
The Police Public Relations Office, when contacted, could offer not other information on the exercise.
In light of the recent crime wave that has rocked the capital city, in particular, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) earlier this week indicated that it was upping the status of its anti-crime operations.
