THE Ministry of Education’s inaugural Relay Fair kicked off yesterday at the Leonora National Track on the West Coast of Demerara. The festival was well attended by schools from the athletic districts in Guyana. The March Past of Athletes was the first item on the programme featuring all schools present. It was then followed by the National Pledge after which Ms Desiree Wyles-Ogles, Ministry of Education Administrator, made opening remarks.
She stated that the festival is a great initiative and was happy to be a part of it.
The West Demerara school band entertained the crowd.
Chief Education Officer Olato Sam declared the festival officially open by stating: “We are proud of our students and our athletes taking part and hopefully this initiative can spark many more of its kind.
“To all the athletes and teams, good luck.”
