Officials need to set the example.

Dear Editor,

I AM a daily reader of this news paper and was disturbed by the scenes displayed on your head line on Wednesday March 2, 2016.I must say a great thank you to the relevant authority for works being done at the Kitty Market; despite the fact that I don’t live there, I see every development in Guyana as a benefit being a proud citizen of the country.
I was disturbed to see the Deputy Mayor Patricia Chase-Greene on the construction site “touring the Kitty Market, currently under rehabilitation,” according to your publication, but was obviously without the relevant safety gear.
Being an official and deputy mayor, one would expect that Miss Patricia Chase- Greene would be attired in her helmet, high visibility vest, and safety shoes or boots (Steel Toe); but obviously the deputy was not attired in any such gear.
I have nothing against the deputy mayor, I have never seen her face to face or any such thing, but I know that being a deputy she is a strong advocate for a healthy and safe environment and she should set the example in safety along with the other officials who were not wearing their safety gear, so she can live long to serve the people of the country.
