City Hall warned against fake letter writers

Dear Editor,

Please refer to a letter in the Tuesday, March 1, 2016, edition of the Guyana Chronicle captioned “NOT: Dr Seon Levius.” We should like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Levius for coming forward and bringing clarity and exposing the wicked and malicious campaign staged against the hard work of the Georgetown Municipality. We believed that this and many other letters in the press have been written by a disgruntled employee who has ganged up with a Councillor and a particular political party. It is evident that the media is used to peddle statements to belittle and besmirch the image of the Georgetown City Council and discredit the ongoing works, which aims at restoring the beauty of the city.

We recall at the Council that, several years ago, this very employee was embroiled in a serious act of impropriety relating to the purchase of uniforms for the City Constabulary Department.
Quite recently, we have observed a number of letters appearing in the print media under several pen names; one such is Nadine Jerrick. A check was made with a prominent member of the Jerrick family and we were reliably informed that the family is a closed, knitted one and the name Nadine Jerrick is not familiar to any member of that family. It is quite unfortunate that the names of innocent citizens are being used to advance the sinister agenda of a few disgruntled people.
However, regardless of the challenges we face, the work to beautify and advance the interest of the city will continue; we will not be discouraged.
All along we had suspected that this was the work of an individual who had a problem with the Council.
