Teenager reportedly electrocuted by electrified fence

Leandrew Davis, the teenager who was electrocuted on Monday night, had high hopes of becoming a football player and loved sports, his aunt, Desiree Davis yesterday recalled. After news of Davis’s demise spread like wild fire in the village, scores of angry residents vented their frustration by upturning the car of the resident at whose fence the teenager was electrocuted.
They beat him and he was taken away to the Vigilance Police Station, where he was  being held up to press time.
Reports say Leandrew was playing a game of football at the Melanie Damishana playfield when the ball went into the resident’s yard.

He tried to retrieve the ball when he came in contact with a live wire and was electrocuted.
The 16-year-old had minutes before pleaded with the resident to hand over the ball so he and a group of friends can resume the game, but this was denied.
Reports said after the resident in question refused to hand over the ball from his yard, he went upstairs.

And as Davis touched the fence in an effort to retrieve the ball, he was shocked and killed.
Davis was pronounced dead on arrival at a doctor’s clinic in Nonpariel, also on the East Coast Demerara.
According to villagers, the poultry farmer/pastor electrified his fence sometime ago by installing electric wire to keep thieves at bay.
A post mortem on the body of Davis is expected today.
