THE Guyana Tennis Association (GLTA) is collaborating with the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) to observe this year’s Olympic Day with a promotional activity to celebrate the Olympic Movement for the sport of tennis. The inaugural Tennis Olympiad and Fun Day will be held on Sunday at the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue & Camp Streets, from 10:00hrs to 15.00hrs.
Racquets and balls will be provided and there will be free tennis lessons, special high-energy fun activities and competitions geared for all ages. According to a release, members of the public who wish to pursue tennis as a recreational sport will have an opportunity to try out the sport, watch top players and beginners challenge one another, meet tennis coaches and join a club.
The GTA hopes to attract at least 40 new participants to the sport.
