PERSONS living in the Onderneeming Squatting Area and Phase Three, Region Two, have welcomed ongoing road improvement works which were inspected by Regional Chairman Devin Mohan on Saturday.
Accompanied by Deputy Regional Executive Officer Mr Omesh Sasenarayan, Chairman Mohan engaged residents who expressed gratitude for the visible progress. The road works are part of a broader initiative aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and strengthening living conditions in the community.
“These developments are making a real difference in our daily lives,” said one resident, noting that improved roads would facilitate easier access to schools, markets, and healthcare facilities.
According to the Regional Chairman, the regional administration’s sustained focus on developmental projects in Onderneeming/Sand Pit reflects a commitment to delivering tangible benefits to residents across Region Two. The ongoing works, which include road-paving, drainage improvement and related infrastructural upgrades, are expected to significantly improve accessibility and quality of life for the community.

Mohan said that the administration listened to the concerns of the residents and as such, a promise was fulfilled.
He said at several community meetings, residents had requested improved drainage and an upgraded road network.
According to him, the continuous inspections of the works are done to ensure that the contractors meet their deadlines and are working efficiently.
He stressed that quality work is important and as such, the regional administration will continue to monitor the works.
During a prior visit, Mohan met with contractors and emphasised the importance of good standards and quality work. He said that the connectivity will benefit farmers as well as residents.
As construction continues, residents remain optimistic and confident that the upgrades will not only ease transportation challenges, but will also encourage further investment and growth in the area.
