THE Guyana Police Force Football Team on Monday benefited from the presentation of uniforms and football gear from the New York Police Department (NYPD) Cricket Team during a ceremony held at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
The presentation was made by Sheryar Hussain who said the gesture reflected the strong bonds that exist among law enforcement officers beyond borders and highlighted the unifying power of sport.
Delivering remarks, Deputy Commissioner of Police “Administration” Ravindradat Budhram expressed heartfelt appreciation to the NYPD Cricket Team, Lt. Dyal and family for their support. He noted that sports continue to play an important role within the Guyana Police Force contributing to discipline, teamwork and the overall wellbeing of ranks.

Mr. Budhram said initiatives such as these help to build morale and encourage positive engagement among players while also strengthening relationships with international counterparts. He encouraged the football team to continue carrying themselves with pride and professionalism as representatives of the Force.
Chairman of the Police Football Club, Senior Superintendent Jermaine Johnson described the presentation as meaningful and timely. He said sustained support and partnerships are essential to the growth of sports within the Force and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to developing talent and maintaining high standards.
Senior Superintendent Johnson added that opportunities created through sport not only improve performance on the field but also foster discipline, unity and leadership off the field.
In his address, Mr. Hussain said the NYPD Cricket Team was pleased to support the Guyana Police Force through sport and noted that football serves as a powerful platform for connection and camaraderie among ranks. He also shared that the possibility of the Guyana Police Force Football Team travelling to the United States of America to participate in matches against their NYPD counterparts will be explored, an idea that was warmly received by those present.
Also in attendance were Superintendent Ronald Alli, General Secretary of the Police Football Club; GPF Sports Development Officer Collin Boyce; Coaches Wayne Dover, Dwain Babb, Vurlon Mills, Anthony Benfield, Rawle Thornhill, Travis Bess, Trevon Lythcott, Jermaine Junior, Denzil Thompson and Joel Gibson along with players and support staff.
