Guyana men’s team hammer French Guiana
THE Inter-Guiana Games Volleyball action served off on Friday evening at
the National Gymnasium with exciting action.
Guyana’s men’s side took an impressive straight sets victory over French
Guiana in the feature clash.
The Guyanese backed by a vocal home base edged the first set 25-21 in a
tough opening game before registering a strong 25-18 win in the second set
to the adoring partisan crowd.
They would pull out all the stops to clinch a clinical win in the third set to
close out the match in a straight set 3-0 after winning the third set 25-12.
Meanwhile, the women’s team lost the first set against French Guiana
comfortably 25-10 but showed more composure and grit but again lost the
second set 25-18 in the best of five match-up.
In the third set, Guyana mounted a valiant comeback and led with 13-8 at
one point before French Guiana surged back to level the scores 13-13.
The French then found their rhythm to close out the set 25-18 for a clean
sweep 3-0 in the best of five match.
