INDIA’S batter, Shreyas Iyer, was discharged from hospital in Sydney on Saturday (November 1) after sustaining a laceration to his spleen following a fielding mishap during the third ODI against Australia on October 25.
Iyer, who suffered a blunt abdominal injury, underwent a minor procedure to arrest internal bleeding and has since responded well to treatment.
The board said Iyer is stable and “recovering well”, with the BCCI Medical Team and specialists in Sydney and India satisfied with his progress. He will, however, remain in Sydney for follow-up consultations before returning home, once he is cleared to fly.
By Tuesday (October 28), Iyer had been taking phone calls, eating home-cooked meals arranged by local friends, and even managing his routine chores on his own. An update on his condition was also shared by Suryakumar Yadav ahead of the T20I series.
In its release, the BCCI extended its heartfelt gratitude to Dr Koroush Haghighi and his team in Sydney, along with Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala in India, for ensuring Iyer received the best treatment for his injury. (Cricbuzz))
